Ditch Witch Introduced The New SK1550 Skidsteer Loader
Ditch Witch introduces its most powerful mini Skidsteer model till date with the new SK1550.
Designed to complete complex landscaping tasks typically suited to traditional Skidsteer loaders, Ditch Witch has introduced the new SK1550—the manufacturer’s most powerful mini Skidsteer model to date.
The new SK1550 is powered by a 32.8kW (44hp) Tier 4 Yanmar diesel engine and is said to direct 25.7kW (34.5hp) of that power to the attachment, allowing the machine to complete tasks typically suited for traditional Skidsteer loaders. The machine comes equipped with an available auxiliary flow control with low, medium, and high settings.
In operation, users can make adjustments to attachment flow and run attachments at their most efficient rate, depending on the project.
Chris Thompson, Ditch Witch’s US-based product manager for compact equipment, says that the company continually listens to feedback from its varied customer base when seeking to fill specific industry
gaps and meet unique market needs. The development of the new SK1550 is a result of this process.
“As the largest and most powerful mini Skidsteer in our lineup to date, the SK1550 helps operators tackle heavy-duty landscaping jobs efficiently, with a smaller job site footprint than a traditional Skidsteer loader,” he says.
Equipped with a 2.4m hinge-pin height, the SK1550 offers a 708kg rated operating capacity to lift heavier loads and Ditch Witch says this offers more than 50% higher capacity than all other mini skidsteers in its size class.
The SK1550 can obtain a 7.6km/h ground drive speed (in both forward and reverse) and optional dual-auxiliary connections help operators utilise advanced attachments for better productivity when handling heavier loads, such as logs, trees, and earth.
The 188-cm2 ergonomically designed operator platform comes standard with dual-lever ground drive controls, allowing the operator to independently control each track for more precise mobility.
For additional ease-of-use, an optional single joystick control is also available. Additionally, the SK1550’s design has no daily grease nipples, simplifying maintenance and reducing total cost of ownership, the company says.
